Enjoyed watching your video about planting seeds. I tried last year, did ok with a few seeds, but most didn’t grow well. I didn’t know about the “two leaves” tomato transplant tip. Thanks!!! I had to buy my tomato plants last year. Going to try again with seeds this weekend :)

is that 2 leaf method true of all tomatoes?

Baker Creek has great seed. I have grown all my plants from seed that I got from Baker Creek, and I have never had a problem with them germinating. If you go on their website to order, they have a collection of seed specifically for southern climates, which is what I have. Good luck!

I can’t wait to get my catalogs. I’m only just starting. Only have 3 raised beds so far but hope to have at least 6 by spring time along with alot of self watering containers. Thanks for all your inspiration.

Great video, if this method does not work and your plants end up leggy looking, try to mount some fluorecent lights on your shelving unit, place a timer on it and the lights will just come off and on when you need them to. You can also lower or rise the fluorecent lights as your plants grow.

I am not able to put my seeds in the window that faces south cause I have three dogs that love looking out the window. I use lights on my stand. I also hate using dirt so I use peet pellets in a planting tray. I also use plastic called conduit on top of the trays. You can get a huge roll of it for about 10 bucks. Lasts you about three years. anyway have fun. I wont be able to start my seedlings untill late april. Last year I had way to many. The cops thought I had a grow opp going on.

I’m gonna borrow your idea with the lasagna pans. Brilliant! Those are so inexpensive and cookie sheets at the dollar store are the perfect drip pan. I bet your lettuce will just take off! I am having great success in my garden too, even with the below freezing temps here right now, my cabbage, broccoli and califlower as well as celery and fennel are thriving! Good luck and Happy New Year! Noreen
