It was a great thermometer. Temperature changed quickly. But after 3 months the needle came loose from the center pin and I had to throw it away. I’m shopping for another one. Based on the ratings, this is one of the better ones.

Three years ago I was given a compost bin for my birthday and after reading about how important temperature was to the pile, I searched online for a thermometer. Although I thought the $30 price from Reotemp was a bit expensive, it turned out to be worth every penny. Without this thermometer I wouldn’t still be composting today. The instructions on the back provide an easy-to-follow guide for the non-green thumbs like myself, plus it’s just so much fun trying to keep my pile in the “Active Zone”. Now, three years later it’s still in my pile and works just like new.
After tripping across this thermometer on Amazon a couple weeks ago, I bought one as a gift for my Aunt who just started a pile in her backyard. I hope she finds it just as fun getting into the “Active Zone” as I do!
